Dental scaling, a fundamental component of oral hygiene, is a dental procedure designed to remove plaque and tartar buildup from the teeth and along the gumline. Plaque, a sticky film of bacteria, food particles, and saliva, forms continuously on teeth. Scaling is performed by a dental hygienist or dentist using specialized instruments like scalers and curettes.
